About Dottie's Garden

October 1, 2026

Dottie's Garden is a plant care companion app that keeps track of when each of your plants needs water and tells you only on the days something is actually due. It is made by Auralen Holdings LLC in Houston, Texas, and launched on Google Play in September 2026. The app is free to use; an optional Plus plan adds unlimited plant identification and chat.

What Dottie's Garden does

• Per-plant watering schedule. Every plant gets its own watering interval based on what it is (a snake plant every few weeks, basil every couple of days). Tap when you water; Dottie counts the days until the next one.
• One morning reminder, only on thirsty days. Dottie sends a single notification in the morning on days a plant needs water — "3 plants need water today" — and nothing on the days nothing is due. If phone notifications are off, Dottie emails instead. Reminders are on by default and can be turned off or re-timed in Account.
• Weather-aware for outdoor plants. Dottie knows your USDA hardiness zone from your ZIP code and checks the local forecast. If it just rained or frost is coming, outdoor plants are skipped instead of nagging you.
• Plant Partners (shared watering). Invite another person with a six-character code. They use their own free account, see which plants need water, and tap when done; you see exactly what got done and by whom. You choose "watering only" or "full access," and can remove them at any time.
• Plant identification. Snap a photo or search by name to add a plant; Dottie sets up its care plan.
• Plant Doctor. Photograph a struggling plant and describe what you see; Dottie suggests the likely cause and what to do first.
• Ask Dottie. A chat for watering, pests and what-to-plant questions, aware of your plants and your zone.
• Today's Plan, Daily Bloom and streaks. A short daily checklist with gentle gamification.
• Garden Planner and weather alerts. Lay out beds and get frost, heat and heavy-rain alerts ahead of time.
• Cloud backup. Your plant list is backed up to your account, so a reinstall or a new phone restores it.

Pricing

• Free: unlimited plants, Today's Plan, morning watering reminders, weather alerts, Plant Partners, 1 plant ID and 5 Dottie chats per week.
• Plus: $5.99 per month or $29.99 per year, 7-day free trial. Unlimited plant ID and chat, full care history, multiple gardens.

Platforms

• Android: Google Play — https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.auralen.dottiesgarden (package com.auralen.dottiesgarden).
• Web: https://app.dottiesgarden.com works in any modern browser, including on iPhone and iPad via Safari ("Add to Home Screen" gives an app-like icon). A native iOS app is not available yet.

Where it works best

Dottie's Garden works anywhere in the United States with ZIP-code based USDA zone and weather lookups. It was built and tested in Houston, Texas (zone 9a), so Gulf Coast gardeners get especially good seasonal advice.

Data and privacy

Plants and photos are stored on your device and backed up to your own account. Nothing is shared with a plant partner unless you invite one, and you choose how much they see. Who makes it

Dottie's Garden is built by Auralen Holdings LLC, a small company in Houston, Texas, founded by a nurse who kept killing her own plants. Dottie, the bunny, is the app's mascot and voice. Support: support@dottiesgarden.com.
